Volunteer Recruitment Drives
Volunteering can be an exciting, growing, enjoyable experience. It is truly gratifying to serve a cause, practice one’s ideals, work with people, solve problems, see benefits, and know one had a hand in them.
~Harriet Naylor
Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love for one another.
~ Erma Bombeck
Volunteers are important assets in our Centre. Depending on your availability, you can assist the staff in planning, organising and implementing of a variety of programmes and activities.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Currently, programmes that need volunteers support and participation include the following:
kidsREAD Programme
For just an hour a week, volunteers are making a difference through kidsREAD reading sessions for underprivileged children. Like them, you too can experience the satisfaction, friendships and ties that volunteers have established at reading clubs across the island.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life – students, parent volunteers, seniors as well as working professionals.
It doesn’t take much more than a willingness to give a little time. We will provide all the guidance you need to share with confidence. And the reward of joy that comes from an hour of happy children is all yours to savour.
We are on the lookout for volunteers who:
1. Are 15 years and above
2. Have a good command of the English language
3. Love books
4. Enjoy reading and interacting with children
5. Are able to dedicate an hour a week for at least 6 months (as it takes time to get to know the child and for the child to know you and make an impact).
Be a kidsREAD volunteer today!
Interest-based group activities
If you have a special talent or skill, but may not be able to commit on a regular basis, you may choose to share your interest or impart your skills by a one-off programme or a training workshop with a few sessions. Past activities carried out by volunteers include: art and craft sessions, model aeroplane making, lantern making, guitar playing etc.
Outings and Excursions
If you enjoy outdoor activities, come and assist us in organising our excursions and camps during school holidays. You will have an enjoyable time too.
