Volunteer

Volunteering can be an exciting, growing, enjoyable experience.  It is truly gratifying to serve a cause, practice one’s ideals, work with people, solve problems, see benefits, and know one had a hand in them.

~Harriet Naylor

Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love for one another.

~ Erma Bombeck

Volunteers are important assets in our Centre.  Depending on your availability, you can assist the staff in planning, organising and implementing of a variety of programmes and activities.

How can you help?

Currently, programmes that need volunteers support and participation include the following:

CHILDREN SERVICES

Tuition

On a regular basis, you can teach or guide a small group of children of primary school level to better their performance in the subjects of English and Mathematics. These children are from low income families who can hardly afford to pay for formal private tuition. You will be delighted to see the development of the child with the efforts that you put in!

Interest-based group activities

If you have a special talent or skill, but may not be able to commit on a regular basis, you may choose to share your interest or impart your skills by a one-off programme or a training workshop with a few sessions. Past activities carried out by volunteers include: art and craft sessions, model aeroplane making, lantern making, guitar playing etc.

Outings and Excursions

If you enjoy outdoor activities, come and assist us in organising our excursions and camps during school holidays.  You will have an enjoyable time too.

YOUTH SERVICES

Coaches, Instructors & Trainers

Because our programme is heavily activity based, an additional pair of hands is always welcome. If you can play soccer, dance or play any musical instrument (Japanese Drum, Guitar etc.), then you are the one for us. Experience would be a bonus but not a requirement, just an ability and a strong desire to teach. One condition though – YOU HAVE TO LOVE YOUTHS!!!

Campers R’ Us

Youth camps are major affairs that require a lot of energy & creativity. If you have the expertise and the know-how to assist in organising, planning & carrying out camps (Soccer Camps, Dance Camps & Adventure Camps etc.) then you are the one for us.

Workshop Facilitators (Psychosocial)

If you feel a sense of achievement seeing young people discover new things about themselves, then this is a wonderful opportunity to impart knowledge and experiences while answering that age-old question “Who Am I?” Journey alongside the youths and be a pillar of support and strength as they attempt to unravel life’s many mysteries.

FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION

Family Life Education (FLE) Programme requires volunteers to assist on the following tasks: send out publicity materials, set up venue for talks/workshops, handle registration, look after young children while the parents are attending the talk/workshop, pack up after talks/workshops ended. The volunteers may be required to assist to help up in the family outings organized by the FSC.

LIFE POINT

Life Point requires volunteers to assist on the following tasks: escort elderly clients to medical appointment, assist in educational tours, perform outreaching/ home visits/ telephone calls to elderly, conduct stock check on food ration/materials, take photographs/ videos, distribute flyers, administrative work, etc.
